The final aspect of a large restoration project, aside from testing and fettling, is the trimming of the new interior. We begin by removing and stripping down the seats and door panels, looking for damage or wear. When necessary, seats are re-sprung and re-padded prior to any trimming work taking place. Door panels are often re-made using new timber. Original trimming patterns and material types are researched and observed and a consultation with the owner on final decisions is scheduled, to produce either a period correct finish or something more bespoke if so desired. The cabin floor is prepared with new underlay and then trimmed with new carpets and bindings, complemented by the newly refurbished seat runners. The headlining, and in the case of convertible models, a new hood and tonneau cover is completed and then the interior seats and door panels are worked upon to complete the job. The final task is fitting the woodwork and interior chrome to complete the works to the cabin area. Then it’s back to the workshop for final static tests before the road testing and fettling begins.
